Our frozen blackcurrants are ideal for enjoying these berries all year round. Whether you're a blackcurrant novice or a seasoned fan, you'll find that this little berry, which isn't much talked about in Québec, definitely deserves to be more popular. Right from the moment you open the package - and even when frozen! - blackcurrant has a powerful, lively aroma with a hint of herbs. The skin is slightly thicker than that of other berries. That's why it's mostly consumed cooked. And that's where it reveals its full potential!

A few ways to tame it:

  • In your muffins, cakes, scones and pies, or as jam and compote.
  • As a fruity sauce for a rich meat — duck, lamb, pork.
  • In a cocktail, or paired with chocolate, cream, honey or maple syrup.

Flavor Pairings

As blackcurrant is quite tart, like cranberry or sea buckthorn, it will shine particularly brightly when combined with rich, sweet flavors, like chocolate, for example. It is also delicious with cream, mascarpone, white sweet clover, honey, maple syrup, and mint.

Preparation

It's simple: like most frozen berries, blackcurrants can be added to your muffins, cakes, scones, pies, and more. Of course, they're also delicious in a jam or compote! It's also an ideal berry for preparing a fruity sauce to accompany your next piece of meat, especially fatty meats like duck, lamb, or pork. We also invite you to experiment with blackcurrant in cocktails - its sweet-tangy profile is guaranteed to create delicious elixirs.

Conservation

Keep these blackcurrants in the freezer. Being individually frozen, you can defrost only the portion you need. We recommend consuming them within 12 months of purchase to enjoy their freshest flavor.

We are transforming local culinary culture

to put the North on the plate

The North,

It is the land here that nourishes us, from the forests to the fields to the Saint-Laurent. It is our connection to the cycle of the seasons.

It is a community of farmers, fishermen and artisans who put their know-how at the service of our food and our gourmet pleasures.

In return, we highlight the fruit of their work through the exceptional condiments that we create and our selection of local products, in a spirit of short supply chain and respect for the environment.
