Are you able to go a month without alcohol? This is what the Jean Lapointe Foundation invites you to do every year during the month of February. It is an opportunity to reflect on your relationship with alcohol and perhaps take the opportunity to reduce your consumption.

Spend all of February without alcohol? Don't worry, it's easier than it seems: it's still the shortest month of the year, and with our recommendations for local and super-tasty beverages, you won't even miss alcohol.

Here are our recommendations:

1. Fin soda's refined sodas

These sodas created by professional mixologists can be drunk as is or combined with a non-alcoholic spirit. Bursting with flavor and delicately sparkling, they are truly delicious! Our favorite flavors: haskap & balsam fir and cascara & sea buckthorn.

2. Maison Théier’s gourmet tea crémants

If you’re looking for a gastronomic experience that truly rivals the best champagnes and sparkling wines, look no further: Maison Théier’s tea crémants are the answer. Created with tea infused in Laurentian spring water, then fermented with Miels d’Anicet honeys and champagne yeasts, they offer a naturally alcohol-free option. Discover the Blanc de Verts, reminiscent of the buttery side of a good chardonnay, or the Cuvée Prestige, which rivals the best Champagne vintages.

3. Kwe Cocktails ready-to-drink beverages

An indigenous company that showcases wild flavours in its ready-to-drink cans, Kwe Cocktails offers a wild mint sumacade (a sort of sumac lemonade), an exceptionally well-made sea buckthorn iced tea, as well as a boreal tonic soda to serve with a good non-alcoholic gin!

4. MOX mocktails

We're rarely fans of ready-made cocktails in a can, but these are changing our minds! Truly complex and delicious in addition to being alcohol-free, MOX are perfect for an evening with friends or as an aperitif. The flavors we have in store are reminiscent of an aperitivo (MOX 3) or a gin-blueberry cocktail (MOX 2).

5. The local, low-sugar flavors of Cactus Kombucha

Cactus Kombucha kombuchas are made in Montréal with love and with several wild plants that give them delicious aromas and flavors: raspberry rose, lavender haskap, wintergreen, spruce and fir... in addition to being low in sugar thanks to the naturally sweet flavor of stevia!

6. Harrington Sparkling Botanical Flavored Waters

These sparkling waters from our region have 100% local flavors: juniper berries (fresh, peppery, fruity), sweet spruce (fresh conifer flavor) and sweet clover (comforting floral scent). They are sugar-free but not flavorless!

7. Sparkling blackcurrant juice from Cassis Monna & filles

A very tasty blackcurrant juice with a very present sparkle, which will delight everyone, even the youngest!

8. 100% homemade mocktails to your taste

And to satisfy all desires, there is of course the possibility of concocting your own mocktails at home! Here are some local ingredients that we recommend without hesitation:

With these suggestions, you are able to complete your 28 days sober challenge with flying colors! Cheers!
