Labrador tea

Labrador tea has a well-established reputation. This shrub native to North America, which prefers humid environments such as peat bogs, has green leaves with a downy back. Despite its name, it has nothing in common with tea from a botanical point of view. It owes its name to the fact that it has been consumed as an infusion for centuries. It is generally attributed several virtues, but our favorite by far is its flavor!

Our Québec Labrador tea leaves are sustainably hand-picked and have a fresh, minty, slightly sweet, and decidedly foresty taste.

Not recommended for pregnant women and children under five years old.

Preparation

The most common way to consume it is as an infusion. To do this, use 1 g (about fifteen leaves) per cup and submerge the leaves in hot water for 4 to 10 minutes maximum, depending on the strength of the infusion you prefer. The resulting infusion will be a rather pale golden color and will have a sweet and resinous flavor with a hint of bitterness. Although infusion is the most popular method, you can also make a syrup to use in your cocktails and desserts, or use it as a spice in your braisés or sauces.

Flavor Pairings

We recommend cooking your Labrador tea in combination with blueberries, lemongrass, strawberries, mint, salmon, or white legumes.

Many thanks for your kind words Maxime! We are glad that you liked the quality!

Delicate taste

I tried Labrador tea as an infusion when I was a little congested, and I really liked its very delicate taste, lighter than a traditional tea and its minty side that did me the world of good. I can't wait to try it as a syrup in a cocktail this summer (maybe with a Quebec gin!?)

We are transforming local culinary culture

to put North back on the plate

The North,

It is the land here that nourishes us, from the forests to the fields to the Saint-Lawrence. It is our connection to the cycle of the seasons.

It is a community of farmers, fishermen and artisans who put their know-how at the service of our food and our gourmet pleasures.

In return, we highlight the fruit of their work through the exceptional condiments that we create and our selection of local products, in a spirit of short supply chain and respect for the environment
